And so we’ve had the time of our lives but it came to that magic moment: The Winning band. Like a teen age crush that came and went quickly, our festival was over.....and some hearts will be broken as well as some will be filled with joy. We’ve had interesting bands all over. Three full days and we still think it’s not but as saying goes: all good things must come to an end. In our case, the “good things” were 19 of the best unsigned bands in the world . We’ve given 19 bands to the German crowd who as always, appreciated the power of performance. Some even went around the festival grounds that our bands were better than the headliners on stage.....that, we would all have to agree with and we can safely say that some of these guys will be a headliner some day. As the sun was still shining and the afternoon was getting hotter, we rolled out the results from the judges. Both technical and Band results are ready to be read out. Like true professionals the two MC’s shared stage duty in both English and German so that everybody could understand correctly. The results were read as follows......drum roll please: 4th qualified band is CUERVO from Australia. These young guys gave an excellent performance and will go back home with the memory of having played half round the world on a huge stage and now they’re off for their first ever tour of the UK. Band number 3 was the very funky ORDINARY PEOPLE from Italy. The runner up drummer prize went to that human drum machine from BLACK ORCHID EMPIRE from London. He takes home a set of cymbals from Sabian. The runner up bass player was given to the lovely fingers belonging to the guy from CUERVO.....once again Aussies way up there winning a Fender bass. The runner up for guitarist, went to the fast wrist action supplied by the japanese duo TARO & JIRO. They got a Gibson guitar. The Best singer award went to the siberian mad man with the filthy lyrics......ROCCO. He got a gorgeous Sennheiser wireless microphone kit. The best bass player went to the funky monkey playing for ORDINARY PEOPLE and he gets a full bass amp from Marshall!!!!. Best drummer award was given to the beat master from FINALSTAIR. He gets a full set of drums from Natal. A gorgeous kit that he can play until he’s blue in the face.....or until his girlfriend tells him it’s time to go to bed.
The best guitar player went to the shred master from GOLDMOUTH and he got a full stack from Marshall!! a valve head and cabinet....wow! And now we get back to the bands......2nd place was given to the band from Hamburg....they get a Steinberg professional recording set up so they can record the next million selling record! and now the moment we’ve all been for......The winner is: OBSOLETE RADIO!!...The French four piece collects the prize for best band of the season according to the judges and they are going on tour next spring....remember folks, when it comes to entertaining the crowd from the stage, all bands are winners!!.... and we at Emergenza are dedicated to bring you the best stages for all unsigned bands to play on. Now, as always, it’s time to go and finish off the week-end by going under the stage for Biffy Clyro........rock on music lovers!!!
