What? Again? Are sure we can use the same title again this year? Well, what else would we say but the fact that there can only be ONE winner….and this year the winner is KID GALAHAD. Let’s start from the beginning. The last 3 days have been the sunniest and most beautiful that we’ve seen here at Taubertal in the last 7 years so this should be a good reason to be cheerful from starters. For the first ever time we had a band from Moscow and a band from Prague this year. The last 3 days have been a great mixture of bands all very talented, each in their own way. Arabic sounds, heavy rock, pop, some funk and more women on stage then we’ve ever seen before. The prizes this year were allocated evenly across the board. It’s always hard for Judges to decide as most musicians are technically brilliant, in this case they got it right...once again! In 4th place this year we have THE WALLPAPERS. Congrats guys. Third place went to YASEEDEE. They were a close second, but placing 3rd worldwide is quite commendable. The runner up for second best drummer went to toe band THE REEFS who received a full set of Sabian Cymbals. The Hagstrom Bass for the second best bass player went to the talented bassist from KAODIC. Second best guitar player also got a Hagstrom instrument and went to the axmaster from GURU GURU. The best singer award unanimously went to the lung filled lead singer from LILY SPARKS. A Wireless Sennheiser microphone was given and deservedly so. The pressure was on and we all felt it at the award ceremony...and now the best Bass player:YASEEDEE who took home a Marshall Amp and cabinet (vba 400+1960 a cab). Best Drummer went to the stickmen from KID GALAHAD. The prize - a full maple shell drum kit from mapex….good luck trying to take that home! (and say hello to the neighbours). Best guitar player went to the “slasher” from THE EXCESS. He takes home a Marshall JVM with a 410 cab. ...and now for the second place band...They too were very, very close and it was WERNER KRAUSS. Joy and sadness in their eyes as we await from the number one band in the world. Drum roll please..... it’s KID GALAHAD. Jumping around like mad, mad rock animals they know that after months of hard, hard work they finally hit the number one spot! All the way from Sweden these guys are going to record an album in Autumn...congratulations 2009 winners and see you next year!
