It’s up to the Band from Prague to open the second day of concerts. As well as Moscow, Prague is also a “world first” for Emergenza here in Germany. They certainly don’t lack any energy. Decent technical skills mixed with good tunes makes this a good opening band for this second sunny days…..Thank you Prague!
THE REEFS
This is the second year that we have an Australian band. Last year there was one from Sydney and this year we have Melbourne representing. This is a 4 piece with a reggae tinged rock sound. A perfect fit for the sunny afternoon we’re all experiencing here. The Reefs are very solid, technically good and have amazing vocals (to say the least) mixed with great hammond style sounding keyboards. A tight rhythm section complete what in our opinion was the most perfect band to have on a sunny afternoon at an open air festival……Thanks for the Sun Australia!
SUSAN'S RED NIPPLES
The Boys from Barcelona seem like a cross between The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys. Capable of bringing poppy guitar sounds with rock and roll attitude. These 4 Spanish boys were perhaps intimidated by the big stage but it was a performance that it was precise, well played and overall tight. Visually they looked fresh and like a proper pop band. We think that overall, time will be the cure for these 4 lads that need a bit of more experience.
GURU GURU
4 Japanese girls playing rock and roll??? Yes please!!
Ok, let’s just say that when we think of Japan we think of a land technologically advanced and with the most polite people on the planet. In the case of GURU GURU, these 4 girls who had a smile printed on their faces during the whole 25 minutes, did in fact seem to enjoy themselves very much. This could well be one of the most enjoyable bands we saw so far at the Taubertal Festiva. The Tokio 4 had strong melodies and energy to sell by the bucket load. The drummer and bass player were contributing to the tightness and a great lead guitar player completed this formation of “Japanese dolls”.
A great, fun gig that left us with killer melodies stuck in our brains……..we’ll remember them for many years to come……..GURU GURU!!!
WERNER KRAUSS
The Bavarian band gave us a super lesson on how to play a great set and get the people jumping. This is what you get when you mix Bloc Party, New Order and make all your tunes danceable and cool. Visually they looked like real rock stars of today. Fresh, young and very talented, WERNER KRAUSS made everybody under stage dance like it was the party of the year. What more can we say? Keep an eye out…this is rock star material in the making! Remember the name people….they have great songs…
LILY SPARKS
New York Represents! 3 girls and 2 guys playing traditional American style rock and roll. Strong vocals, solid rhythm section and energy, they did their job properly in true American “mode” and showed that women in the states have an extra gear in their engine. Overall a great performance but we could not expect anything less from NYC.
Rock on!!!
THE WALLPAPERS
What were you doing at 16?
Well, I certainly wasn’t playing on a huge stage…..these “kids” are the epitomy of pop. THE WALLPAPERS are representing Paris with fire in their veins. Great pop tunes and energy is something you would expect from young people (obviously) but to write tunes this good? And what about arrangements? How is it that these guys can be this good this young?....the answer is: who cares? If we enjoy them so much why do we need to worry?
