Atlanta Semi's
The last set of Semi-Final shows for the Emergenza International Music Festival took place in Atlanta at the Loft. The three days of shows were great. The music was awesome, the energy high and the mood happy.
Calling All Stars took the first place position at Thursday night''s shows. They had good composition and a healthy rhythm section. Eleven Standing Still took the second place position. They are a hard rock band with great stage presence, strong vocals and a very supportive fan base. The Pickup Line had a very creative introduction to their set and nice arrangements. Chasing Katie had great solos, and strong vocals to accompany a unique sound. Chilton and TextBukSex funked out the evening and had the crowd bumpin''. They were not only some of the most professional of all the bands this evening, but surely knew how to throw a party. Sounds of Silence utilized a great combo of screaming and singing. Red Shift Relic, a band of brothers, had great vocalizations and excellent harmonies. Maudlinash took us into a pure rock vibe with excellent lyrics, vocals and guitar solos. Cinetrope, the only band this evening with a female lead vocalist, closed out the evening with some of the best compositions, vocalizations and stage presence of the evening.
Cameo Nova took the first place position on Friday night''s semi-finals with good drum and bass and tight vocals. Black Light District will also be performing at the Emergenza Final''s at Center Stage, formerly known as Earthlink Live on July 1st. They gave off a pure rock vibe, complete with tight changes, solos and a great stage presence. Soul Sister is definitely a band to keep your eyes out for. They are young, well accomplished musicians well on their way to success with their classic rock style and their upbeat compositions. Broken Machines had excellent guitar solos, and strong lyrics. February''s Closure, one of the only Emo bands of this evening''s events, put on a great show, with an excellent opener, great drum solos and an enthusiasm that was hard to match. Joshua Tillman, who held the 6th place position on Emergenza''s radio station, were one of the only acoustic acts this evening. His band had nice arrangements, and good vocals. Galactic 4 brought out the old time rock''n''roll and blew everyone away with their set. The One, a family band from Atlanta, gave the audience a treat when they took the stage. The family was not only on point, they had a great presence and a motivation that will surely take them to the top. The Apostles also put on a great performance. They have a reggae, rock, funky soul vibe about them and are true performers.
Saturday night was definitely rockin''. State of the Art took first place with an excellent performance complete with a great stage presence and solid vocals. Stereozur, one of the only Latin-Rock bands in the competition here in the south, took second place as their audience waved flags, sang along and roared to their set. 6 Dice was close behind with a fabulous rock performance that had everyone on their toes. Social Espionage, a unique underground band, put on a wonderful show complete with turntables, great emcees and excellent rhythm. Stainless also put on a great performance as they impressed with their positive lyrics and strong vocalizations. Somarosa, a rock band from in-town rocked the audience with a solid rhythm section. They were one of the only bands with a female bass player in this entire competition in Atlanta. Silas also performed well with sweet vocals and a good stage presence. Immersed in Flames is always a treat. Their lead singer knows how to put on a good performance, mixing screaming with strong vocals and a theatrical aspect that has everyone enthralled. Scarlet Androgyny put on another great performance with good vocals and a keyboard addition that really spiced things up.
The Final is right around the corner in Atlanta. It takes place on July 1st at Center<
