On the West side of the Mississippi river…
The last weekend Pop’s Nightclub in St. Louis saw on its stage the Emergenza semifinalist bands competing for a slot in the big final night that will take place at Pop’s on Jun 17th. The bands were thrilled to set foot on Pop’s stage, one of the most traditional live venues in the area.
On Thursday night the 3 piece band Achalachia start off the weekend with a brilliant rock performance in a grunge style. The young guys from Paper Moon went upon stage next and filled the room with experimental and enchanting sounds. The metal band Pagoda performed a very aggressive set. Tight! Mama Rogers brought a breath of fresh air with some funky jazzy tunes produced by sax and keybord. The industrial band called 6 followed and brought a lot of energy to the crowd. Great performance with a voice from the heart. Parted by illusion showed upon stage next with psychedelic tunes in a metal style. Very peculiar! The last band on stage was Void, a punk rock band that definetely know how to close a show… The guitar player literally destroyed his guitar on stage breaking it in one thousand of pieces.
On Friday night The reebs kicked off the night with a very enjoyable performance in a rockabilly style 100%. More than me performed an acoustic set that really had me feeling good. The metal young band ADHD played a very aggressive and powerful performance. The following band Good question just won the crowd over with a peculiar acoustic performance that got everybody to clap and sing with them. No charisma brought on stage all their experience performing an impressive rock set with great skill. Heavy metal back on stage with the young band Mothrah. Their screams could wake the dead! The last band of the night called The sham cooked up some sweet indie sounds. Quite impressive!
On Saturday night the crowd saw on stage a good number of heavy metal bands… Aphelion son, Microwave society, Chapel Perilous, Homegrown, Sanctum and Seraphix. The young boys from Covent Garden performed an entertaining and enjoyable rock’n roll performance. Well done!
It was great witnessing the skills and the emotions of these musicians and I can’t wait to be back for the final and see those young talented guys back on the Emergenza stage to compete this time for a place in the Milwaukee final! Good luck to all the bands and keep up with the good job guys!
