The weekend started off with a mild blizzard in the streets of Vancouver but by Saturday and Sunday the sun poked its head out of the clouds and shone through the club doors of the festival.
Thursday''s lineup consisted of; Slitsoul who started their set with a song titled "Psycho King", while Lost in the Sun brought an alternative flare to the stage, Schematic put all that aside and played a full out rock set. The band Hooligan were full scream ahead and made some serious noise, and Viv Savage pulled the trigger on the night and went out with a bang.
Friday rolled in the first band Burn the name who were in the winter of discontent until Unit 29 took the stage and created a shuffle blitz with the Balance following who performed a song titled "Technology II" that brought the crowd towards the stage. Then the band The Turn really shook things up and had the crowd in full swing with their set moving the crowd even closer to the stage with a full out rock performance. Music Machine played a song "Emotionless" that brought a unique sound to the room that had the audience in somewhat of a trance. Southgate brought out their butterfingers and made the room ring with anything but candy coating, and Musa ended the night with "Insect Politics" moving them on to our semifinals.
The sun came out on Saturday and the band to start off the night was The Ingredients who sported off sweat bands and brought a truly unique style and flavor to the stage. The Sessions who were up after had a slamming performance and tore the roof off the club to start off their set with a nonstop body moving performance! Incura played a song titled "Set in stone" that moved the audience to their sound, while Evilosity''s set was bleeding black with hard rock. First Reign went beyond the screams and performed a song titled "Destiny Ensnared" that show cased their poetic lyrics. Proximity Seven had a majestic entrance and ended this night of rock.
To end this final weekend of preliminary rounds in Vancouver on Sunday was the band Eklektasy who definitely had a style and flare all their own and really entertained their onlooking fans with catchy beats and harmonic vocals. The band The Twitch started off their set with a prerecorded intro and by the end had the lead singer in a tank top with a flash light strobe on the crowd.
