Portland’s Solid Rock State!
Well it was another preliminary round in the city of Portland renowned for its Rock reputation. The skies were blue and the music brought out the full moon. Keeping this club a rockin throughout the weekend.
Thursday brought in Drawback who left the audience with a carpet burn of tunes, next up was The Brian Copeland band that were bound by their fans and played a set with a harmonious acoustic flavor. The Unpopular Club were anything but and sparked the stage with a young and crazy appeal, while Delano had all three members beating on the drums at one point leaving the audience in awe of the unique sound that came through. Another Fine Crisis brought out their luggage of sound and had the crowd moving, and Force Fed Lead had a case of “mad cowboy disease!”
From the Bedroom started Friday night off with a harmonic trio that had the audience aligned in their seats affixed on their acoustic sound. While Tracy Klas shed more light on the acoustic melodies she also incorporated a cello with her set. Black Tangerine went on to play something different on the electric guitar and performed a song titled “Stepped Away”, while Blood Alley paid the tab on a punk set and Ex/Post Delay turned the embers to ashes as the Wheelchair Renegades were jaded and cynic.
The third night in being Saturday brought on The Horswogglers who were living on the edge, and Kweshton who played a song titled “Goodbye for Now” which had the crowd moving. Ambassador performed an instrumental set which included a song titled “Crystal” that had a somber feel to it. Stonestill lit up the stage when they opened up with “Passed you by” that rocked these guys from the Gorge, and Wooden Nickel had a patriotic fight with sound on stage. The night finished off with Twelve Inches Total calling on Dr.Death to round off their set.
Aisle 3 began Sunday’s night of rock, who paved the way uphill for the night. Deadend Nation sparked the stage like a box of matches, while Goblikan closed the curtains with their rockin Punk set. The band Polyester Morning broke away with a Pop set that had the fans up close to the stage and dancing, and following them was the band Echo Helstrom who had a Celtic feel to this changing night of music. To finish off this weekend of music was the band Gasoline Queen who made the audience jump when the lead female vocalist performed her Emo Hardcore set that moved them on to the semi-finals!
