Calgary unveils its cold front!

As the temperature dropped to a chilling –35 the bands were still eager to play no matter what the barometer stated! The shows definitely were hot enough to make all forget about what was going on outside as this didn’t inhibit the bands from making a stellar performance! Thursday kicked off with the band Walking Backwards who provided the audience with a circus freak show, while Dark Current had a set that was as sweet as Irene. And Slither in Exile were on a highway of killers giving the audience a set of metal. Latin fresh were born without sin, and Five Star Affair ignited the room of people and created an intense atmosphere equipped with sounds of the trumpet and didgeridoo. Auto body were anything but mechanics, and The Weathered brought the plague of punk to the audience. Ending this night was the band The Sellouts who played a song titled “Porphyria Army” had the crowd moving towards them. Friday warmed up with the first band B-6 Vallery’s that rocked the stage, and Lucidream had a brief candle of melodies that had the crowd lost in their sound. As Tar Bender brought out their fans from a distant town away they shook off the snow and brought out a show down. Roadside Fire played a song titled “Airtight Alibi” that really moved their fans. The third of this trio show on Saturday was started off with the band Destroyed out of Convenience who welcomed the crowd to being oblivious. Next up was Skulldozer who brought out tremendous energy to their hard metal set. While Forever and a Day followed with a mellow acoustic set that balanced out the two. Dr. Rock star and the Gypsy Bears followed with a band full of crazy neon red, yellow, and blue hair while one member sported off a neon pink and black striped half top, this defiantly kept the crowd talking. This ends this second weekend of preliminary rounds in the infamous cow town of Canada. Stay tuned for the semi-finals coming up in April…….. (the band LuciDream in picture)
