Liquid Lounge raining rock

The Liquid Lounge once again played host to some of Dallas’ best live music, as is there history, and the Emergenza Rock Show was definitely bringing it full-force! Even though the weather didn’t cooperate later in the weekend, the rain didn’t keep the rockers from showing up and blowing minds and melting faces. The show exploded Thursday night with Madame X, bring good American punk along the lines of Anthrax and the Dead Milkmen, stamped with creative lyrics and strong musicianship. The Joe K Experience wowed the crowd with a great set of fresh, original music, led by talented musicians and creative orchestration. Perfect Hate’s bold set of industrial rock was peaked with an excellent version of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name.” Of Korah brought vocals in the style of Ed Kowalczyk of Live, with a great modern rock sound. The Road, although appearing at the Emergenza show for their first gig ever, brought strong rock stylings and talented vocals with a great original sound. Be on the lookout for these guys; they are going places! En.code came next, with a refreshing alternative to the rock show with the original sounds of electronic dance and funk, led by a talented musician and a lovely female vocalist. I wish I would’ve had about 2 hours to listen to their set! The night was wrapped by Darcy, with their peaceful yet pensive music that made you thirsty for more. Friday’s show started off with the impressive female vocal sounds of Florian, with an energetic stage presence and an all around great sound. Winter Rose hit the stage next with a great alternative rock sound accented by strong lead vocals and a great balance between the keys and the guitars. Backroom Noise had an impressive marketing show as well as a great American Rock’n’roll sound, and although I’d love to hear more of their original music in the second round, they definitely did justice to the 3 covers they did during their set. Corti had some great use of some unique chords in their set, focusing on their passionate vocals. Friday night finished out with Tristate Heartache, who were young but came with the force and maturity of musicians much older than they are, with a new punk sound to rival any SoCal band out there! Halftime, and Saturday was definitely a great quarter. Scarlet Redemption had great original material led by very talented vocals and great backups as well. Waiting for Dawn’s melodic emo sound was refreshing, with and energy on stage to rival the best bands I’ve seen. Oh, and nice argyle sweater, guitar guy! 5 talents More put on a great rock set, with a positive message and great stage presence. Everything was strong from these guys; best of luck in the future! Trouble in Mind had a great alternative acoustic sound led by a talented guitar player, who did some great slide work on the resonator. They also had some great backup vocals from Tasha, the lovely female vocalist and also from the other guitar player. Chasing February’s set was wrapped with a great cover of “Karma Police” by Radiohead, after a great set of original acoustic rock. These guys have a very talented bassist! Next in the lineup was Wagon Boss, with vocals reminiscent of Fragile Porcelain Mice with interesting chords and great original songs. We finished off with Surrender by Light, bringing good vocals and harmonies and strong rhythm section work. Sunday, our final night of the weekend, was fired off with Triple T. This is blues-rock done right, led by a very adept guitar player, and nice vocals and harmonies all around. Sometime in June played a great set with awesome vocals and a great all-around alternative rock sound, and you can tell they really have fun when they play. The Juice Kittens hit the stage next, with a very versatile set, going from new alternative rock to an almost retro-50s sound. Paradoxxx hit the stage next, melting faces and taking no prisoners. Not only did they rock the house, but also they gave out a bunch of condoms
