Echoes from Alabama



For the first time ever Birmingham AL opened its doors to Emergenza Festival and it was amazingly successful! The competition was hosted in one of the finest venues there, known as The Highnote Lounge CafË. The weekend saw a big variety of music, styles and eclectic artists. On Thursday night the room was completely packed and STUCK INSIDER kicked off the show with a solid rock performance and they had a great success. The young grunge band CLOCKWORK cooked up some sweet indie sounds. CLOCKWORK KINGDOM came with a tripping progressive rock set. It was quite impressive considering the young age of the band''s members. Keep up the good work guys! The punk band PROVE THEM WRONG followed and spread energy all over... I really liked their quirkiness! The punky guys from SUBURBAN SKIES were a lot of fun for the crowd. KNOVA JONES played a neat and cool rock and roll performance. The guitar player was brilliant! The last band on the night, THREEFALL, brought a solid alternative rock sound to the stage and won the crowd over. On Friday night ESKER started off with a very eclectic and interesting rock set. The rock band INTO NEVER performed with a great stage presence. The following band was NOTHING MORE THAN THIS... they surprised everybody with their alternative sounds. The keybord player made their performance remarkable. The alternative band LEAVING SHILOH brought to the stage great tunes and melodies and they had a great success with the crowd. The first metal band of the weekend WITH GUNS BLAZING came up next and performed a very powerful set. BELLYGODS played a cool rock set. A positive note goes to the bass player... excellent! The Christian rock band CROWE closed the night and played their instruments with skillful. On Saturday night TRITENNIAL opened the night with a very entertaining alternative rock set reminiscent of early 90''s grunge. The punk band OVER TENTH STREET performed with great stage presence and they demonstrate to be a very tight band. The punky guys from THE HOMOS came up next. This local band is very well-known for its eclectic stage performance... and they didn''t let down giving a lot of fun to the audience. Hardcore metal band ESCAPE ARTIST played a very powerful set. The young band DRIVING TENT played some very good punk tunes and they were very talkative in between getting everybody to clap and be part of their show. On Sunday night the show started off in the best way... Blues on stage with ELECRTIC VOODOO and what an amazing band! The guitar players were really impressive, great tunes and brilliant music arrangements. I am looking forward to seeing them at the semifinal! SERAPHIM played a very aggressive and powerful hardcore metal set. The rock local band AUCTION 45 played a cool set and won the crowd over. CAVALIER followed and played some great indie sounds. Melodic metal ABSOLUTE ZERO put on a very good show... these guys has great technical qualities! Punk and ska on stage next with THE OUCHIES! This band performed with energy and sweat and they were a lot of fun! Alternative metal band HISTONIA closed this thrilling and exciting weekend of shows. I am looking forward to be back to Birmingham and attend the semifinal rounds in April!
