Portland Lives up
...to its Reputation for being the city of Rock n''Roll!!
Thursday Dec. 15th
Emergenza''s first set in the infamous Rock town of Portland was kicked off with the band The Jack who were ready to pull out all the stops by having one of their band members strum his guitar with his teeth (which I''m sure keeps his Dentist busy). Next on the bill was Evelate who found another way to get the job done by playing the cover song Tom Sawyer. Contrapublic proved that talk is cheap and Jahai changed the tone of the evening by crossing all the lines and stitching old seams. The Submarine Fleet dove deep into their seas in a case of fire. While Tekorji pronounced (Tech-Orgy) tore through the audience clothes with a sound force that left them with a smile and an urge to light up a cigarette. To round off this first show of many was the band Plain Jayne that were anything but the average girl next door with a solid set that raises the bar to where Rock should be and progressed them onto the semi-finals.
Friday Dec.16th
Blacklist 40 started the night up with a song titled “Fade” that actually shone their way onto the next round. Son of Rust showed its listeners the world they live in by bringing the devil inside. Element 57 had a cult of personality and played their strong side out. While Awake woke the crowd up like the dawning, Jacob Merlin gave a numb conformity and Phaedrus brainwashed the crowd like a bad disease.
Saturday Dec.17th
Saturday night''s first set by Dropout Theory was the perfect solution to get the crowd warmed up for Good Year''s riot patrol that pulled them out of Stumptown and had the lead singer shirtless by their 3rd song in. Western Aerial sped the pace up with a song titled “Dirty” that led them into a clean finish and into the semi-finals. The band Mike Millar & Friends were not to be ignored with their 5 piece band, and following after them was 12 Gauge Fuse with the song titled “Broken”. Academy was a false alarm to hard rock who had some competition when Apollo hit the stage and made the night bittersweet with a changed skin that couldn''t keep the crowd away from the stage.
Dec. 18th.
Night was cancelled due to snowy weather conditions. I guess Portland was no match for Chi-town!!
