Nashville with a bang
Well, Well, Well, what can I say...I was blown away during Nashville''s first set of elimination rounds of the Emergenza Music Festival. The shows were held at the Hair of The Dog, and were a raving success.
"Crystal Armentrout" kicked off the season to an excellent start setting the mood with her sultry blues rifts and raspy vocal melodies. "Victory at Last" followed with power rock like you''ve never heard. "The Withered Remains", Thursday night''s first place winners, took the night into high-gear with Metal that got everyone on their feet. "One Adam Twelve", Nashville''s newest rock band, held their debut show on Thursday. You would have never guessed it was their first night playing out together. "SHIROCK" brought on the love with a powerful set that seemed to put the audience into a trance. Listen for SHIROCK''s tunes on multiple television shows in the near future such as Veronica Mars and MTV''s Real World. "Shooting for Shyly", now known as "Burning Bellevue", followed with face melting rock. "Wooden Wire" closed out Thursday''s Emergenza premier night of the season in Nashville bringing the audience back to their roots with some good ole'' southern rock.
Friday night began with the expectation of much ROCKIN''. Be careful what you wish for...one couldn''t have asked for a more rockin'' event! "Aiden''s Fall" opened the evening with pure driven rock-n-roll. . "Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you... "Victor Furious and The Murder of Men,"" who brought rock to a new standard with their powerful lyrics and hard-core bass licks. The "Michael Logan Band" won the audience over with an acoustic rock set complete with an unexpected harmonica solo towards the end. "The Other Band" brought everyone back to down to Earth with Nashville''s very own country style music. Some call it American rock, I call it country. Regardless, it was pretty authentic, just like Momma''s cookin''. "Will Champlin" closed out the night with a serious piano/vocal set that even Elton John would have been jealous of. What a night!
The vibe on Saturday night was a mixed one. "Monkeybumms, Inc." set the mood of the evening with hardcore metal and rock solos. "Mindset Defect" then took that mood to the next level; raging metal waves filled the room. "Strawman" took it down some with classic rock to lift the soul. "Albino Vega" followed bringing the crowd to their feet with rock originals and a cover of "The Sweater Song." Newly formed blues band "This Evening''s Winners" took the stage and moved the audience with some serious slide guitar and fat bass licks. "White Crow" took us back in time with a little classic rock and an excellent stage performance to end the show and a fantastic evening.
Sunday night rolled around with a mixture of music. "Mindsplitter" opened up with raging metal and sweet guitar licks. "Brother''s Bentley" was up next with a variety of hats and an original rock sound dominated by strong rhythms and quick vocals. They made it clear that they were in this evening''s event for the fun of it, and spread that vibe throughout the crowd. "Hitchcock Circus", donned in black suits and white ties, took on the stage with brilliant lyrics and radio-friendly rock tunes. "High Five For Fun" led the audience to realize that playing music is always fun. Despite minor technical difficulties in the beginning of their set they managed to keep the crowd on their toes and having a good time. "Cowboy Fabulous" could not have been more fabulous. With an electric fiddle that lit up the room along with cowboy hats on all, these guys surely knew how to get the crowd involved and moving. "The Eggrollers" closed out this weekend''s events with head-bobbing punk. Would you like a few laughs with your "Eggrollers"? You Got IT!!
All and all the weekend was a raging success. The bands put on great performances and the audience seemed to really enjoy the music. Without the help of Todd Sherwood and his excellent te
