Philly on Fire



FEBRUARY FALLS kicked off the weekend with a solid performance.   Crowd favorites, THE MOATS, followed. C.I.C.A.D.A. were the surprise winners of the night, wowing the crowd with their earnest show. A hard rockin'' set from MOXLEY rounded out the evening. Local emo-core favorites, HILLSIDE opened up Friday night with one of the biggest crowds of the weekend.  SUMMER HAZE injected their mellow acoustic guitar stylings into the evening. Metal young ''uns, BREAKING THE SILENCE hit the crowd hard.  2005 Emergenza Philly finalists, MODERN BLISS, didn''t disappoint with their  inimitable set.  HALFLING threw out a little funky rock to the tough Philly crowd and ZELAZOWA followed with an intense rocking set.  THUNDERBREW closed out the night with some good ol'' hard rock. Saturday started off with the energetic emo pop youngsters in EMPTYMINDED.   Expect to see good things from them in the future. SOULOH came next with their unique blend of pop, soul, rock and jazz that won the crowd over.  MOURNING ELECTRA followed with a great set of all original tunes.  KEEPSAKE MEMORIAL and MIDNIGHT F*$@#!% REIGN gave everyone a taste of their powerful sounds. EVOLV put on a great performance and brought out legions of Philly rock fans.  FELIX SARCO, one of the most original acts to grace the stage this weekend drew the crowd in with both their impressive fashion sense as well as their distinctive musical stylings. ASHES OF DECADENCE''s self described "Melodic Death" music won them a spot in the second round. RAVENS IN THE WELL was the first band to play Sunday and kicked things off with a technically impressive show.  ALIEN8 followed with a rock solid performance reminiscent of early 90''s grunge with hints of modern pop punk.  PAN.A.CE.A was up third with a performance full of hard rock songs thatstick in your head for days afterwards.  U.R.B. brought a breath of fresh air to the weekends shows with their unusual blend of storytelling and rock.  AFTER THE FALL followed with a set of infectious songs sure to set your toes a tapping.  You couldn''t help but smile when South Jersey punks, MAX THE DORK, hit the stage.  Any band that throws in a cover of the Eagles fight song is sure to be a hit at a show in the city of brotherly love. KALONIC rounded out the weekends shows with an impressively cohesive set.
