E-FOUNDATION: AND THE WINNER IS…

No Radical Change from Florence (Italy)

The official announcement has been made: the winner of production by the E-Foundation in 2005 is the band No Radical Change, from Florence, nominated by Emergenza's Italian General Manager Francesco Frilli. No Radical Change won the votes of four out of six of the E-Foundation''s members. Runners up were The Naives from Madrid, nominated by Sabrina Baroni, Emergenza Spain and Sweden General Manager. No Radical Change won third place in Emergenza''s International Final in 2003 (as well as the best drummer) and left their mark on the whole audience. Here''s what the final''s official reviewer, the Italian journalist Roberto Iacopini, wrote about them: “The music is solid; they play hard, without frills. The wall of sound is impressive and falls upon the audience like a harsh wave, leaving them without breath for the whole concert. The lead singer has an impressive presence on stage. The band backs him up wonderfully, feeling loose enough to improvise a bit. These guys look like pros, the quality is not only felt in the stage presence but is also felt in the way they distinguish themselves from others in the same genre.” No Radical Change begun to take shape in May 2002, when singer Fabrizio Marconi (aka Orso) and the guitarist Federico Neri, keen musicians in the Livorno alternative music scene, started to work together. When the drummer Andrea Ungheretti and the Bassist Michele ''Ciompo'' Ceccherini joined them, No Radical Change was born. The name comes from the fact that none of them were willing to change anything about their personalities and the way they feel about music: no compromise, No Radical Change. Four very different musicians, several musical influences (grunge, metal, hardcore, and many other), several distinct ways of writing and composing riffs and beats. It is difficult to describe the kind of music they play: metalcorep perhaps comes closest to describing it. Following their success in Germany, No Radical Change has played in showcases across Europe (Paris, Barcelona, Munich, Berlin), and been the opening act for large scale gigs. Their music and contagious energy in live performance has been met with real enthusiasm by audiences and staff alike. In April 2004 No Radical Change took on a new guitar player, Luca Pezzini, replacing Federico Neri. In April 2005, thanks to the E-Foundation, they are ready for their first professional production!
