NOT SO SILENT IN CINCINNATI
Hundreds of fans braved the outside elements and made a trip to the Blue Note, host of Emergenza''s very first weekend in Cincinnati. These lucky travelers were rewarded with a non-stop barrage of musical styles, including every variation of rock, pop, punk, and ska for a little flavor. As a result, Emergenza''s debut in Cincinnati was a sight to be seen.
Burn opened the weekend by ripping through an impressive set clearly felt by the audience. Fortunately for everyone, they''ll be coming back to do another Emergenza show in May. Stop by then and you''ll also see Milkweed and The Moseys, who won the crowd over on Sunday with their best stuff. Subvinyl''s performance had to have been one of the best all weekend. Their solid rhythm section and sultry vocals earned them the very loud approval of the audience. Later that same night, Lunchbox took their youthful energy and put it to work, capturing the crowd en masse.
However, these audience members were not merely spectators. Buckra made it a point to include them in the festivities, with their front man jumping into the crowd to get a little dancing done in between vocal arrangements. Several young ladies reportedly swooned. All in all, Cincinnati offered up some of its best bands during Emergenza''s opening weekend. From the sonic onslaught of Sinamatic to the solid rock of Common Mood to the pizzazz of the Pinstripes, 25 bands gave the crowd something to live for. Hands were thrust into the air as the audience demanded to see their favorite bands again. And so we closed out the weekend with 16 bands read to do it again on their next Emergenza night.
