FIRST NIGHT, FIRST WINNERS!

WENDY'S DREAMING from Montreal

1. Tell us something about your band's story We (Philippe Ouellette and Laurent Choinière) strummed our first chords 2 years ago. We worked as a duo for about a year. Philippe traded his guitar for a bass and we started work on the first tunes that were to become Wendy''s dreaming. Vincent Fontaine joined the group in May of 2003. Wendy was born through his pencil and the official name was chosen. Work could then be started. 2004 was very productive for us: creation of our first 16 original songs, production of the demo (EP) and the website (www.wendysdreaming.com ). During this same period, we were able to surround ourselves with a team that believed in our project: the studio team, musical collaborators, etc. Things went so well that in the fall of 2004, one year after our first show, we felt ready to go on-stage to be heard. Yves Marchand joined the group at that point, adding the final touches to our songs. 2005 will be the year in which Wendy''s breaks out from her shell… 2. How did you get to know about Emergenza? We heard about Emergenza for the very first time at Steve''s Music in Montreal. Loyal customers to the store, we saw the sign and asked a few questions to the staff in January 2004, during our creative process. It quickly became a band objective to participate and present our songs. 3. What do you think about the musical scene in Montreal? Montreal is an active city, especially the musical scene. It''s a place where there is a wide variety of styles for a curious public that knows how to enjoy the different types of music. Montreal also has dozens of venues for new bands that want to be recognized. So it can really be a stepping stone for us… 4. And about our enrolment point and our venue (Steve''s and le Swimming)? We appreciated and still appreciate how the contest is going. Be it the inscription meeting or the technical meeting, the great availability of the organizers to answer our questions and guide us in our participation, we feel as though we weren''t left out in the cold. Furthermore, the information received by e-mail is clear, precise and abundant. We’re all already custumers of Steve’s so the association was easy and natural to make. As for le Swimming, it''s a well-known venue in Montreal. So, it''s a good choice for the contest. We were received pleasantly by the staff and the contest''s organizers. Everything was done professionally. The many technicians were very considerate, the schedule being respected thoroughly, etc. 5. How did you like your first gig with Emergenza? Obviously, the professional atmosphere of the contest allowed us to concentrate thoroughly on our music and enjoy our time on-stage. We were able to play for our public and everyone present without having to worry about anything else. We are delighted to have taken the first place, in spite of the snowstorm… Delighted also to see that the response to our own songs and our exhibition allowed us to win the first night of Emergenza Montreal 2005!
