THE FUNNIEST BAND IN CANADA
Interview with Pete Möss from Montreal
everybody cried reading the sad story of your family: can you tell me your REAL story ?
According to the dictionary Pete Möss are : The bastard children of Angus Young''s father and John Spencer''s mother who grew up listening to too much Ramones.
PETE MÖSS comes to life in spring 2003 in the back of a Sherbrooke (Canada) bar where some members of 4 well-known groups of Quebec''s musical scene (over 170,000 copies sold and more than 800 shows total) decided to end the night jamming in a rehearsal room on the very strip clubish Wellington street. One month and a few compositions later, PETE MÖSS is awarded first place at the Envol & Macadam national contest and is chosen to be the opening act for Sloan at the Envol & Macadam festival. More recently, PETE MÖSS played at Woodstock en Beauce with The Tea Party, CCR, Sam Roberts and many more. Since then, Pete Möss plays as loud as they can anywhere people are not afraid of getting their
place smashed and destroyed.
what do you think of the Montreal musical scene? What place do you think Emergenza has in it after 4 years?
Montreal has two main different musical scene: the french one and the english one. The bad thing is the mix between those two musical scene is pretty rare. Emergenza gives the chance to both English and French scenes to get up onstage and do their things. Emergenza has now a great place in Montreal, something like 300 bands (both English and French) participated to the 2004 edition just in the Montreal area...
did you expect to win in your city, and to win so many prizes in Germany too? (best singer and best rhythm guitarist)
We didn''t expect to win in our city because we got ex-eaquo in 4th place at the first qualifications.
We were there pretty much to spit beer on the crowd and to break the most stuff we can.
In Germany, We expected to win at least what we got, if not we''d have been very deceived... Just Kidding!
for the guitarist: do you like the customised guitar you won???
That''s a great guitar. My only regret is that it doesn''t blow fire like KISS guitars!
how do you feel during your live shows? your stage presence is simply incredible!
Insane and Sweaty. Each song is like a 3 1/2 minutes long orgasm.
At the semi-final at the Club Soda, a guy jumped from the mezzanine in the crowd at the first floor during our show.
At the final at Le Medley, the security was on the edge before we got onstage in case of another 2nd floor diving...
Who are your favorite artists? Do they influence your music?
A lot of artists influence us in our music. For example, AC/DC influences us for their hair, Clutch because they are fat, Danko Jones for his tongue, Liberace for his stage presence...
In other words, everyone who kick ass influence us.
tell me some funny memories of the days in Taubertal
Lucky Möss got so drunk after he won the best singer award that he lost his trophy and the day after, he wasn''t able to sing a single note because his voice was too f**ed up! Bloodhound gang is the worst live band ever...
G-Rock slept in the shower and Lucky in the corridor on friday night ''cause they were too drunk.
There was still a whole day to spend at Taubertal and They went out of beer stock saturday night... OH NO!!!!
They accused the Canadian bands (RAR and us) of drinking to much and being the source
of the "no more beers" night.
Is there a drinkable liquid with no bubbles in Germany? just kidding...
We realized they are driving on the same side we are after two face to face accidents...
projects for the future?
Getting married, meeting Liberace... and releasing a 5 songs EP for spring 2005.
We are negociating a distribution deal for Canada with Fab Distribution (Epitath''s supplier in Canada)
We''re playing with SUM 41 in Febuary 2005.
Also, we''re playing in a Boxe Festival in Montreal (BoxeRock).
We''re looking to get our music on XXX movie soundtracks. No kidding, i
