They play HEAVY METAL, tough, hard, fast, but without forget that melodic feeling sense of touch. Solid drum/bass section, heavy riffs, sharp guitars, vertiginous solos and a powerful but melodic voice.
In their lyrics, they deal with social protest, introspective thoughts, heroical fantasy (nothin´to do with topics about Tolkien´s or Dragonlance) and love songs, too.
Nowadays, they have a set-list with more than twenty in their live shows they often include covers like "Hell Patrol", "Cowboys From Hell", "Holy Wars", and many more, showing the musical diversity, always between Heavy Metal parameters, the members of the band are involved in.
Their last demo CD “Rising” was recorded during 2001. It shows the evolution of the band offering a much better quality of sound than the first one. With rising you can have an idea about to do, checking out the variety of the material that´s on: Hard/fast sound and lyrics in “Seeds of hate” / melodical feeling/sensitivity in “Surrender Your Love”; maintaining always that metal-edged guitars.
The only Gauntlet gig with Nacho Ruiz take place in the famous pub “El Sol” in the centre of Madrid, in May, 2001 as one of the finalists of the “Villa de Madrid contest”. Later on, Nacho leaves the band because he can´t compaginate the activity with his other band Arwen, due to a contract with a record company. Nacho Arriaga leaves the band as well to join them after some months playing with them as their provisional drummer.
In this period, Gauntlet takes part in Tipo´s “muchorido.com” contest plus 150 bands from all the country. This contest allow the band to spread the demo in Tipo´s shops over Spain.
In the next months, Gauntlet is called to participate in the finals of “Los 40 duros” contest in Cuenca, option that is rejected because at this moment, there is only three people in the band.
Far from giving up and after a long time testing people who could replace the “Nachos” Alejandro Martinez finally and Sr. Lobo are the chosen ones to join Gauntlet.
In August, 2002 the band reaches the final of the “Nivel 0” contest in Gijón. They obtain the third place out of 200 bands all over the country and have the opportunity to play in the basket arena of Gijón for 700 people.
Nowadays the band works hard in composition for next releases, as well as prepares next shows in Madrid.
