But, they're special for several reasons! Formed in 2002 and consisting of three sexy women and one smoking male lead guitar player, Beyond Blonde has been chocking up one accolade after another. Their musical travels have taken them to Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, New York, and their local states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, where they've performed at the Sakonnet Rhythm and Blues Fest (2002), the Sunset Music Festival (2002) and the Seafood Festival (2002 and 2003), the Midwest Music Industry Entertainment Conference (Lexington, KY, 2003), and the New York Independent Music Festival (2003), where they won an award. They were also featured performers on Cox Cable's "Center Stage," which aired in Rhode Island in the summer and fall of 2002, and received periodic airings in 2003.
Unlike the angst-driven sounds of punk, grunge, or modern hard rock, Beyond Blonde’s music is positive, straight-ahead, soul-driven rock-n-roll that’ll make you dance & smile. Moreover, since the band’s influences range from Aerosmith, Skynyrd, Chicago, the Doobie Brothers, Van Halen, Buddy Guy, AC/DC, and the Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin, its audience consists of people from 6 to 60!
Last but not least, the band is also giving in terms of its music and time, as they have played several benefits, including those for victims of the Station Fire in West Warwick, RI, the NY Firefighters, victims of cancer, and numerous programs to free people from substance abuse and domestic violence. In doing the latter, lead singer Lisa Firda sang with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith in February 2003 for a benefit for the Middlesex Human Services Association (Middlesex County, Boston, MA).
