Defiance Road has been described as "a power trio with a wailing vocalist", started in late January 2004 when vocalist Dusty Trullender reunited with guitarist Andrew Manko, bassist Jeff Schmitt after a short hiatus. Erv joined as the drummer, completing the band. Refocused, the group began working towards tighter musicianship and stronger songwriting. Since then, they have continued to build an arsenal of original songs that cover the spectrum from introspective acoustic pieces, such as How Long and My Revolution, to hardcore jams like Can't Wait and Looks Like A Good Day To Die.
