Lost Grip (formally known as Dissent) was formed in late 1997 from two former local bands in Port Clinton Ohio. Rob Rawlins and Al Hofer are the founding members who soon added bass guitarist Mark Mikolajczyk from Toledo, Ohio . After recording a five song demo (Origin of Sin), Mark and Dissent went their separate directions . Rob and Al looking to play a solid style hardcore metal , Sean McNulty agreed to take up playing bass with us . Sean soon departed for an opportunity to play in a Cleveland area band . Tim Hofer was added to be a permanent bass guitarist to complete the line up for Lost Grip .
Al Hofer : Drums
Al has the right combination of speed and skill , knowing what fits ,and how to keep it together. Al’s major influence is Dave Lombardo as it is shown when he starts to play , yet Al has found his own style of drumming to rely on .
Rob Rawlins : Guitar and Vocals
Rob takes a simple forward approach to guitar playing , keeping the metal style close at hand , but is not afraid to try new things . Rob also takes care of lead vocals for Lost Grip. Rob’s major influences include Ozzy , Slayer , Jimmy Hendrix and Six Feet Under.
Tim Hofer : Bass and Back up Vocals
Tim originally a rhythm guitar player , decided to take up playing bass guitar to fill the void . We rely on Tim for his consistency to hold the music together . When you hear the thundering bass from Tim, you know his major influences are Kreator , Slayer , Iron Maiden , and Testament .
Lost Grip plays in the style of hard core with a twist , taking a little style from each to combine into an all out metal slaughter !
