SUOSITUIMMAT TARINAT
Reminiscent of In Flames and Ensiferum, Odium’s sound is driven by catchy, harmonized guitar lines. Their pretty moments are balanced by blast beats and Calloway‘s terrifying growls, as if the listener is running through some scenic forest with a pack of wolves at her back. Two of their songs are up on Myspace: “Hellspot” and “Torn From the Hands,” an instrumental piece.
Odium has played a few big shows since they got together in 2005, and their favorite headliner was the Canadian death metal band Cryptopsy. “(Cryptopsy singer) Lord Worm came up to my singer after the show and told him he has a great vocal style, which was awesome,” said guitarist Rubanyuk. Next year, Odium might take their show on the road with a band they met in New Haven. “We were lucky enough to play with a great band on tour from Puerto Rico called Machete,” Rubanyuk expalined. “We became good friends with those guys; they’re really cool and invited us to play a tour next year in Puerto Rico, probably around February.”
Since nobody from the Hat City is going to fly to Puerto Rico for Odium’s Caribbean tour, the guys have scheduled a few dates in Connecticut: 10/14 at the Oxbow Cafe in Hartford with Nethereal, Oceans Afire, HBBSI, and Hogg; 10/21 opening for Gwar at the Webster Theater (also in Hartford, and also with Nethereal); and 12/1 at the El N Gee in New London with Skinless, Torn Asunder, End-Time Illusion, Our Final Chapter, What Weapons Bring War, and Frostbitten.
