Neo and Yuri started a band called Black Roze in 2000. When Pim came in and played some guitar stuff the name turned in Formosa. After a while Formosa had two bass players (Rick & Roland). When Roland was trown out of the band Rick did the vocals and after a short while Rick was trown out of the the band too, because he didn't buy a bass. Then Neo became the singer of Formosa.Meanwhile they got a problem... they need a bass-player, then they had a sort of try out, the winner was Sjarlotte which then became the new bass-player, and then the trew Pim out of the band because he didn't do anything. After that the concerts in SCSI (The hague) came along. Then Sjar was trown out of the band, so that Rick could be re-placed in the band (he now had bass and Neo heard that he could play because the both were in Nosebleed) and now he does bass + backing vocals. A month later the had another guitarist... Steve (wich Neo played before with in Radius) now he does solo and backing vocals. Then Formosa recorded a demo. This is basically how the band was formed as it exists right now. The demo they recorded at Vanilla Music wasn’t that kind of success, so they wanted to take another direction and find a way to make better music. And that’s just what they did. When the new songs started to take shape, Formosa was playing more and more gig’s and they found out the audience was really enjoyed by there new music. Playing at Spotlight with 2 songs and being asked for the next year. Summer 2006 they decided to put the best new songs on a brand new demo. For 5 months they worked almost every Sunday in their home studio, recording the 5 track album called Medicine Man. At this stage the benefit of a producer you know really well and being able to record at home was very clear. They could write and record at the same, so they forced themselves to be as creative as possible, but still keeping the songs possible to play live without people hearing mayor differences. Late 2006 Formosa was asked to play at the LVB Festival which took a lot press with it and they even made it to the front page of the newspaper, while they where the lowest ranked band when they entered the festival. When the band nearly finished their album, they started to manage things for themselves, by setting up a line of gig’s on the other side of the country. Locally they where asked for bigger gig’s and they even joined the Emergenza Festival. Right now the four guys are in the middle of that all. The future lies ahead and they are eager to make the best of it. What ever happens, Formosa is not a name to forget.
