Formed in the spring of 2002, this Chicago based band is comprised on original members, M.C. Life One and Universe Neo on vocals and rhymes, who along the way, brought in the musical contributions of DJ Stizo on turntables and trumpet, and bassist Al Thick, keyboardist Keyco Plentay, and drummer Mark Fire. What started out as a side project has since developed quite a buzz around the Chicago hip-hop scene, leaving a lasting impression on ears new to the Contriband sound.

Their debut recording effort, ‘The Sound,’ (2004 Urban Boondocks Recordings) gives listeners a taste of the unique style and creativity that the band portrays in a live setting. The highly anticipated follow up effort, ‘Shorties Catchin Fireflies,’ just released the summer of 2007.

Performing at many of Chicago’s popular venues, including the Metro, Double Door, Abbey Pub, and Wise Fool’s Pub, as well as Navy Pier, Millenium Park, and countless other local spots, Contriband continues to invade areas in and around Chicago with its lively and energetic performances.
