The band is made up of:
James Heatlie – Bass and vocals
Sean Palmer – Guitar
Emma Harris - Drums
LUS were first formed a few years ago as a four piece, but with regular drummer changes, and other members not being settled, nothing really got going and the band split up. When the fourth and final drummer was put in place in September 2008, the band reformed, and this completed the line up that is now LUS.
Since September 2008 LUS have written a solid collection of songs, and with equal parts of heavy riffs and melody, this has become part of the LUS sound.
With songs written and rehearsed, gigging was the next step on the agenda. Their first gig was in Dartford in February 2009. Although not in familiar territory, the gig was well received, and the band was relieved to have their first gig under their belt. Since then they have built up a good fan base around the Canterbury area, playing and headlining several venues, each time with a more cohesive performance.
March 2009 saw the first professional recording of their song ‘Beautiful Shell, and in July this was released on a Unified Sounds metal compilation cd. The final result was impressive, and they are now keen to follow this up with recording 3 more songs with a view to creating their first EP.
The bands latest creation is the crushing ‘Pure Metal’. This is a solid slab of heavy riffage, pounding drums and immense vocals. In recent gigs this song has led to mosh pits whipping up a frenzy, so much so that it is now their new set closer.
Not bad for a years work! Here’s to the future of LUS.
