Ebru was born in Turkey, and then came to England at the age of 3 where she was given the chance to live a life that Turkey could not provide for her. She was raised by her mother and uncle who first exposed her to some of her greatest influences by having music surround the house at all times. While most young girls were into more contemporary pop artists Ebru was stunned by the sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Celine Dion and Shirley Bassey. Mixed with her love of Beyonce, Floetry, Mary Mary and Jill Scott, Ebru has been able to conjure up a sound that not only can be placed alongside today's greats but also echo's those of the past.
Ebru first obtained her opportunity to sing on the stage at the age of 13 in a school competition and has since then has never looked back. Gracing such stages as Alexandra Palace, The Barbican, Brixton Academy, Stratford Theatre and Hackney Empire to name but a few.
For a long while she had been blessed with an immense talent but no idea of how to create this music that she could hear in her head until she met the highly accredited producer Anthony Marshall. Anthony (formerly of Ignorants) was one producer/songwriter who had the musical ability and vision to take her music and make it a reality. Very quickly the two bonded musically and started crafting a sound that would stand out on its own and stun many that would hear it. They never followed any formula or genre structure. Instead they aimed to simply make GOOD MUSIC with no boundaries.
Her live performances are where she has gained much credit and begun to create many followers of her musical journey. Remenisant to a young Tina Turner with the immense energy and honesty her live shows embody, people always leave wanting more and many have found a connection with her music that they have not felt before. One of her greatest fans and now soon to be collaborator is the musical genius, Rod Temperton (Songwriter/Michael Jackson Thriller Album) who has seen her growth from the beginning and has found in her a reason to sit down and once again put pen to paper.
An extremely talented vocal performer who writes from the heart and to the point. Touching on subjects others leave bare. Ebru is a raw talent who is definitely the one to watch out for in 2010. You have been warned!
