    À LA UNE
The best things in life occur naturally, without effort or difficulty. Such is the nature of this 6-piece genre-spanning group from Auckland City. Their captivating and energetic sound is the result of their diverse influences and backgrounds coming together to create an original yet familiar feel, both on stage and in the studio. Their music incorporates dub, rock, ska, funk, hip-hop and soul. The band has been emerging steadily into the live music scene which has seen them play support for Katchafire, dDub and Salmonella Dub during 2007.

Easy came together in such a fluid way that a precise start-point is impossible to discern. During some "Poetry in Motion" jam nights at Auckland's Rising Sun bar (as far back as 2004) is where frontman/vocalist Maia Rata, guitarist Dan Pilkington, guitarist Perry Hooper and bass player Jared Greenwood were first performing together, accompanied by various drummers, MC's, DJ's and other musicians.

In early 2006 the band decided to find a permanent drummer to pursue song writing and practicing as an actual band. Once drummer Richard Beckmannflay was successfully auditioned, it was on. The newest addition to the line-up is horns player Tom Mee who jumped in during 2007.

    Easy Live Events

The band has won the 2006 AUT Battle of the Bands, live gigs include the Grey Lynn Festival 2006 & 2007, MVP Supershow, supporting Definate and Bling, Waiheke Island's Culturefest, Lothlorien Festival, Auckland Seafood Festival 2007, Ponsonby Market Day 2008, Shore Sounds Summer Series 2008 (support billed for Che Fu & The Krates) and have been playing around town at venues including The Rising Sun, Vesbar, Rakinos, The Dog's Bollix and Kingsland's Ivy bar.

Currently the group is writing new songs and recording, but the focus is on perfecting the live show. When it comes to putting in the work, this band is certainly not taking it easy.
