    ‘Lonely Boy’ from Francesco Ceoldo

10 years in the making the new album ‘Lonely Boy’ from Francesco Ceoldo is definitely worth the wait

The new album from Francesco Ceoldo entitled Lonely Boy tells the story of over ten years of songwriting as a solo singer songwriter who has finally found his musical equals in his current band—featuring Ceoldo on vocals, keyboards and acoustic guitar; George "Jojo" Menon on slide and electric guitar and backing vocals; Nicholas Pietrogrande on bass; Henry Perin on drums and percussion; and Marco Danese on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. The session-grade instrumentals revolve effortlessly like celestial bodies around the vocals and superb keyboard playing of Ceoldo. Each song is super well-constructed and delivered in the utmost non-chalence that only years of playing can provide. The slide guitar in songs like “Final Destination” could have been pulled out of any legitimate Honky Tonk establishment in Nashville, without question. You needn’t listen too hard to figure out what artists have had an influence of Ceoldo—right out of the gate with the opening track “Back Home Blues” it’s a total fusion between classic twelve bar blues and the jazzy chord progressions of artists like Steely Dan. This album definitely brings us to The U.S.A. circa the mid-1970’s. “Desert Trip” fast-forwards to the year 2000 adding an Elliot Smith-esque melodic approach to the old America-meets-Donald Fagen groove. Totally spectacular. The album was recorded and mixed in 2013 at True Colours Studio in Padua. The incredible songs on Lonely Boy just got Ceoldo a ticket to play The Factory in Padua for the semifinals of Emergenza Festival Italia. Not so bad. Stay tuned to Emergenza.net for more news on his tunes.
