Top Secret Track from Kamera Kubica

On the heels of the KK Micro EP Padua band Kamera Kubica gives Emergenza exclusive access to a new song from their upcoming full-length album

After an almost four year breakup following the release of their debut album Curse in 2009 Kamera Kubica is finally back in the studio. In preparation for a new album the Padua band released their KK Micro EP to the public and is now giving Emergenza Festival access to a top-secret track from their upcoming full-length album. With their straightforward rock setup of two guitars, bass, and drums, the new song comes across like a veritable tornado of sound, alluding to, but never copying, their major influences from bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana. The drums drive this song forward like a battle march, while the super-fuzzed guitars and psychotic high-pitched riffing give the song its in-your-face attitude. The band says they also take influence from Italian artists Afterhours and Marlene Kunz, which you can hear particularly in songs like “Betty Boop” from the EP. But the band always has its own splashy, over-driven rock and roll take on some of the more melancholic chord progressions and eclectic melodic phrasings they borrow from those artists. The new material was all recorded at Bee Studios in Thiene, Italy. All songs are sung in Italian, so you better start brushing up before their next gig. Kamera Kubica just played an electric show at The Factory in Padua in January. Stay tuned to see if they made it through to the semifinals. The band says they believe in fairy tales. Maybe one will come true for them.
