Tomorrow night the 25th of January will be anything but normal at the iconic venue Gibus on Rue Du Faubourg Du Temple in the heart of Paris! Emergenza Festival is super proud to announce that the venue is playing host to a totally new type of event, where in addition to the local unsigned bands competing in the festival, there will be special guest performers from around the world.
Joining the seven French bands competing—Call Me BOB, Amazing Girl, RIFT, Original G-Dom, Avoriaz, Dêlta and Stand For The Impulse—will be two more Emergenza bands, Oonor from Italy and Eligor all the way from Mother Russia herself!
How is it possible that unsigned bands are getting to jet set from their home countries to play at one of the best, most iconic venues in Paris?
Well, for both of these bands, the journey started when they enrolled in Emergenza Festival.
Hailing all the way from Saint Petersburg is the band Eligor, who were the first to take advantage of our revolutionary new format of the festival, launched just last October. We’re talking about our One Off concerts that are cropping up in locations around the world. All the five talented musicians in Eligor had to do was sign up and play in front of an international jury of music experts. No eliminatory rounds. Instant gratification. And the prize? Getting shipped off to play in a prestigious international location—in this case Gibus in Paris. Not bad, eh?
For Oonar, the guest band from Italy, the story goes a little differently. These guys let their talent shine from the start of Emergenza Italia 2013 all the way to the national finals at Stazione Birra in Rome. Armed with synthesizers, LED mic-stands, and killer songs, Oonar distinguished themselves as the band to beat. But, despite it all, they just weren’t able to secure the win. So what does Emergenza do for its runner up bands? That’s right. We give them a second chance to rock the international stage in prestigious locations worldwide…
And that brings us to where we are today: Gibus Club, Rue Du Faubourg Du Temple, January 25th 2014.
A day that’s not just about seven amazing local bands facing off, but is about a cultural exchange between artists from around the globe. It’s about collaboration—between musicians and our incredible Emergenza staff, spread throughout 184 cities worldwide. It’s about progress. Clashing languages, cultures, and music genres. But mostly it’s about the mission of Emergenza Festival: making dreams come true for unsigned musicians all over the world.
Don’t believe us? Just ask the two bands that are packing their suitcases as we speak. The two bands about to embark on the biggest adventure of their lives so far.
