Hailing from the brightly lit streets of Chicago, White Hot Knife has created a huge buzz in 2005. Incorporating elements from various genres, the quintet has molded a sound that represents a culmination of Chicago’s blossoming Indie-rock scene. With detailed intent, they have blended upbeat danceability, bass driven melodies, and fluttering guitar drones with all out frenzied rock and roll chaos. The centerpiece of WHK’s sound is singer Joe Olivio whose offerings range from whisper quiet to unapologetically loud, from tongue in cheek to intensely personal. There is never a dull moment at a WHK show. After being in various local bands, the members of White Hot Knife came together with the intent of bridging the style gaps between their prior energetic hardcore pasts, with a more light hearted and positive sound that can rock the party all night long. White Hot Knife creates a bold, yet current sound. With influences ranging from the Killers to Taking Back Sunday, there is something in White Hot Knife’s sound for everyone. The band has been together just under a year, and are working on their second EP and have shows booked all over the Midwest.
