TOP STORIES
Individually, they are influenced by radically different musical styles, including post rock, folk, indie, alternative, metal, hip hop and punk. This diversity of musical backgrounds complicates the democratic song-writing process, but also leads to pieces which don't fit clearly into a single genre.
Their music encompasses a great diversity of moods, fluctuating between delicate melodic sections, instrumental breaks, heavier passages and dance-inducing grooves (sometimes within the one song). This quality has occasionally earned them criticism, with their music being described by some as schizophrenic, but it is an element that they personally enjoy. They favour diatonic keys and are by no means averse to switching time signatures. The meanings of songs are considered very important, with lyrics addressing themes such as nature & science, human psychology and the beauty of life.
