Joshua Mitchell credits his smooth soulful blend of Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel, and Jazz, to a host of great musical pioneers; from the legends of Ella Fitzgerald, Donny Hathaway, Steve Wonder, Sting, and TPAC to the heavenly voices he heard growing up in the Chicago church circuit. This honey-voiced tenor who originally intended on being a doctor, majoring in Biology/ Pre- Medicine at Northwestern University decided to switch his major to Performance Studies after landing a role in a theatrical production during his first year in college. It was around this time that Joshua finally embraced the thought that his true calling in life was to inspire with the gift of song and other performance ventures. Throughout his years at Northwestern University Joshua Mitchell continued to hone his skills by participating in various talent shows and plays not only as a performer but also as an artistic director; producing musicals and choreographing various dance shows. While very successful in his artistic endeavors in Chicago, Joshua wanted to further his career and thus moved to New York City where he continued to grow and created an uncharted path in the Underground Circuit. He commands the stages and embraces the fans of New York, Chicago, Atlanta, California and other countries. With his dazzling stage presence, dynamic vocal range, and positive spirit, Joshua Mitchell's live performances leave the audience mesmerized. From his hip fashion style and swagger, to his scatting, gospel belting, and smooth crooning, his versatility sets him above the rest. His lyrics are deep, heartfelt, and truthful. Seeing him live is truly an uplifting and exciting experience. As an actor he has performed with companies like Inside Broadway, Straight Gaffin Productions, The Sun & Splendor Theatre, and the Mamas Foundation for the Living Arts.
