Now in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto!
If you want to break your band in Canada and Europe, now is your chance! The internationally renowned Emergenza Festival is now accepting entries from unsigned bands of any style.
In last year’s finals, 12 exciting bands battled it out at Emergenza’s first-ever Canadian competition at the Medley in Montreal. A sweaty but enthusiastic crowd of 1800+ was treated to a final showdown jam packed with amazing talent. The winners, Direct Line, won the Rock n’ Roll trip of a lifetime, traveling overseas to take part in the European Final at the Taubertal Open Air Festival in Germany. Playing in front of 20,000 people, they placed 4th out of 23 finalists!
Your band could be the next group playing in Germany at the European Final in August 2003. There are also thousands of dollars’ worth of top quality prizes to be won courtesy of Ernie Ball, Sabian, Sennheiser, Mapex, Crate, and many more. In addition, you’ll have the chance to perform for talent scouts from Columbia Sony Germany!
The Emergenza Festival is now expanding into new cities and is expecting hundreds of hungry bands to strut their stuff. Kathrin, booker at the legendary Rivoli in Toronto, is very excited about the upcoming showcases at the club: “We’re always interested in events that support the indie scene”, she said. All the bands that enroll in Toronto will get to perform at this superb venue. Bands that advance to the semi-finals will play The Reverb, another Hog-town hotspot. Finalists will do battle at the Grand Opera House.
In Ottawa, the Manager of The Rainbow, Danny Sivyer, is expecting the Festival to be a resounding success. “There really aren’t any other contests of this type in the Ottawa region. There are so many great bands in the area, this is a great opportunity for them!” Semi-finals & Finals will unfold at the spectacular Barrymore’s’ show bar.
In Montreal, participants will again perform at the city’s best venues: L’Alizé, Club Soda and The Medley. “We love bringing musicians and music together -- it's a fantastic chance to see so many bands in such a short period of time,” says Dave Gantz, General Sales Manager for Steve's Music in Montreal. “I’m expecting this year to be even more successful than last.”
The Emergenza Festival attracted so many bands in Montreal last year that some groups had to be turned away. Don’t let this happen to you - fill out the registration form NOW!!
