PeachyKeen!
That's four boys made in West Berlin who ventured an experiment two years ago:
What
can a warm, distorted guitar sound still do today against mass-compliant radio
hits and monotonous bass buzzing on the dance floors? Friends became family and
went from academic goals to long nights in the rehearsal room. The songs
transport urban melancholy and sing of the ups and downs of being alive.
1)
You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2018/2019. What made
you decide to take part in it?
Our
dear bass player decided to register us for Emergenza. The rest of us didn't
know the festival to be honest but after all we're glad to be part of it.
2)
As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?
Go
for Gold!
3)
What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?
Although
it wasn't part of the actual contest our Gig at the BergFestival in Austria
last year was for sure one of the best experiences we've had as a band so far.
Entering the Stage of the legendary SO36 was a childhood dream becoming true
for us. The same evening we got to meet "electric brotherland", which
we really appreciated and definitely will stay in touch with.
4)
What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?
The
name is taken from the Nicolas Winding Refn film "The Neon Demon" and
is the name of a dark red colored lipstick.
5)
Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage? And
one which happened in backstage or during the preparation of a show ?
On
stage: Florian's old Peavy amplifier went up in flames on stage because he
tried his hand at being a hobby electrician. Long story short: Overheated tubes
set the old lyric sheets on fire that were stored in the open back of the amp.
We had to extinguish the fire with the stage molton. The crowd went wild!
Backstage:
Once we played a concert in a club where the backstage was an empty strip club.
After the concert the shady guy who owned the store led us through an
inconspicuous door. Behind it hid another strip club, which wasn't that empty
at all. No Names.
6)
How would you describe your music ?
What
a hard question. Maybe we can give an Impression by dropping some keywords:
Distorted
Guitar Sounds, Rhythmic , Brit rock, Wave, Post Punk, Ballads, Divers, Neo
Nostalgic, Untamed, Joyful, Tragic, Aggressive, Soft
7)
What are your short to medium term plans after the Emergenza's world final?
Short-term
plans: we are super happy to be represented in a booking agency from september
on and plan to support bigger bands, maybe play a small tour and expand our
network. We also have some hot releases coming up.
We
are working hard on new material.
Medium-term
plans: We are looking for a major label to which we can sell our souls and be
on tour 366 days a year.
