A medley of hard-rock influences, all expertly intertwined to create something so unique, so off-the-wall, that it can only be David Pear. The funkiness in his guitar tone reveals the fact that David grew up listening to a lot of Rage Against the Machine and Peppers. Full of intricate funky guitar licks, laid over with forceful hard rock vocal lines, interspersed with a little hair metal wailing, Southern rock, post grunge, and—wait, did we hear that right—jazz?! This artist tempers his expert musicianship with humour, bordering on parody at times—not just lyrically, but musically, by juxtaposing different grooves and sounds in a totally unexpected way. At every turn David Pear surprises and delights, slowly but surely converting the casual listener into a true fan. Go check out his debut full-length release Silverwall on his website.
And make sure to come see him rock the face off of The Garage in London on March 8th. He’s set to go head to head with five other bands for the chance to limelight at a major European venue and go directly to the international finals of Emergenza Festival. It’s going to be a big night, and we can tell you one thing: David Pear definitely won’t be holding anything back.
