Punk Anthems and Power Drumming: Heads & Hearts

Get ready for the high-energy power pop punk offered up by Melbourne band Heads & Hearts this Friday at The Espy

Self-described as loud, dynamic, and emotional, Melbourne band Heads & Hearts is right on the money. They use a straight forward rock and roll set up to power out original songs inspired by bands like Blink 182 and Brand New. Take their song “Breaking Free”, whose amazing punk anthem chorus is reminiscent of bands like Greenday. This one sends a message about breaking away from a past life and moving on to a better future—it’s a powerful message, driven home by the moving chord progression and the spot on power drumming. “Apologise” takes their sound to the extreme, starting off with a slow apologetic, melancholy intro and then breaking into a bitter, wailing chorus where the lead singer screams his heart out. Both songs can be found on the band’s Triple J Unearthed page. Head over there for a listen while you’re waiting to rock out at one of their live gigs. They’ve already had a great reception at venues like The Revolver, Elephant & Wheelbarrow, and Idgaff Bar, and are now debuting at The Espy this Friday, May 9th for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Be sure to go down there and check them out. More details on the show here.
