The name Rabble Rouser seems to sum up pretty well the chaotic and manic vibe the band goes for in their sound. Self-described as “bi-polar, unhinged, and un-categorizable”, these psychedelic garage rockers from Melbourne offer up not only heady psych sounds but gut wrenching melody and lyrics. Even though most of their songs come out of extended jam sessions, they come off as coolly composed. Take “So Damn Tired”, whose grungy 80’s underground— à la Billy Bragg—sounding hook will play over and over again in your head after just one listen, or “I’m a Human Blues”, the title track off the band’s debut EP, both of which you can stream on their Bandcamp. “I’m a Human Blues” really shows the band’s ability to write groovy, high on the neck guitar riffs and combine them with dreamy vocal melody, cutting the angsty, ironic tone of the lyrics. Come rock out to their fuzzed out garage tunes this Friday, May 9th at The Espy when they go on stage for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Rabble Rouser pours their hearts into their music and will no doubt put on a killer live set, so don't miss out. Click here for more details on the upcoming show.
