À LA UNE
A: Hm...Let me see. I think it was at the party at that guy's house... They played the same house for a couple of weeks one summer a few years back... I heard they're still around.
Q: What did you think about their music?
A: Well, to be honest I don't remember their music. I was hammered. But I know it was a great night; I danced and I woke up in a bathtub wearing nothing.
mollygogo started up as a four-piece party crasher in the spring of '01 at Langhaugen high school. Their objective was to make sure that there would be loud music at a loud party.
After taking home third place at Eggstockfestivalen '02, the local battle of the bands, gigs was added constantly. Working up rutine and confidence playing all over the city of Bergen's clubs, pubs and parties, the band released their first EP "the molly gogo band" in the fall of '02 and the five houndred or so copys where gone before nightfall.
In September of 2004 mollygogo set out on their first US Tour playing shows in elleven different states over a period of two months. It was a hell of a trip from New York to San Diego, and the band was finally faced with the rock 'n roll lifestyle; parties, groupies, trashed motelrooms and internal disputes.
In the summer of 2006, mollygogo was voted Bergens favourite band for the local Lost Weekend Festival and this opened up a slot at FeitaBoogie Productions where the band recorded their second release; a seven track called "mollygogo". Coming up with creative names for their compositions was not their strongest side.
For those of you who know the metaphysical state of the band will all say the same thing; what a lazy bunch of motherf**kers. And yes, they are. Nothing really happened before the fall of 2007, when mollygogo played for a crowd of four thousand at the annual beer fest at UKA '07 in Trondheim, Norway. This made way for the bands first UK Tour in the following spring, and again the band experienced the sweetness of being on the road. Prior to the tour the band scored a deal with the awsome UK based Party House Records, who will help the band develop a reputation on the great island.
The recording of mollygogo's second full length (the first one was recorded in '04 but never released. Lazy bunch of motherf**kers) was started in the summer of 2008, and will be availible in stores in October. This is a DIY production due to mollygogo's strong feelings about integrity, comradeship and fear of deadlines.
So the show goes on. Sing, fuck and have fun.
