    Based in Chambéry (Savoie – France) Céphée Lyra is a female fronted metal band created in April 2005 by Sylvain (guitars) and Maud (voices). The band turns out to be a serious project when Maud gets back from a year of studies in Finland, by the end of 2006, as drummer David and keyboardist Lilia join the band. Later in April 2007, Jérôme joins in as the bassist.
    The compositions of Céphée Lyra combine lyric metal and progressive instrumental lines. The vocals are quite similar to Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) and the guitars similar to progressive metal bands such as Symphony X or power metal as Sonata Arctica. Neo classical inspiration is also present in the band’s style; mixing up Adagio and Yngwie Malmsteen influences. In all, Céphée Lyra is defined as a lyric metal band made of many different genres of metal: opera, progressive, neo classic and symphonic/melodic heavy such as Stratovarius, Sonata Artcica or Blind Guardian. The band recorded its first demo in October 2007, an auto production called Nebula, made of 5 compositions available on their MySpace page.
    In March 2008, Lilia leaves the band and she is quickly replaced by Stéphane. In the following April, the band first experiences live recording during its show at The Clash in their hometown. Extracts will be uploaded on their page as soon as possible. Two months after Lilia, Jérôme quits. From now on, the band will follow its path with Aurélien at the bass.
