    À LA UNE
In a world where Emo groups, skinny jeans and uber styled hair are de rigeur, there are four lads from Dublin practising the old art of rock and roll! Jack of Speed are bringing their driving rock sound to the Boom Boom Room this Saturday to launch their fantastic debut EP, Take Your Pick,

Jack Of Speed, whose name derives from a Steely Dan song, are four guys: Mike Sleeman (lead vocals/backing guitar), Alastair Cross (lead guitar/backing vocals), Rhys Waters (bass) and Danny Stuart (drums). They started many years ago when all were still school boys. Originally formed by mates, Mike and Rhys, long term friend Alastair was soon called upon. Danny, Alastair's fellow school mate, joined fresh from various other projects. Between broken arms, university degrees and general growing up, the band have had a fragmented history. However, they are back, with their new name, their new EP and are ready to give it their all on the Irish scene.

'Take Your Pick' is a five track strong EP which perfectly showcases Jack Of Speed's sound. With catchy, colourful artwork designed by Dan, your attention is grabbed from the start. And a listen will take you from anthematic classics such as Fallout (don't blame me if you find yourself singing this one in shower - Phantom FM agree and made it their demo of the week two weeks ago) to more acoustic sounds such as Without The Crowd. The rhythm section drives the EP, while snappy, crunchy guitar riffs and catchy melodies refine the songs.

And most importantly as a live band, Jack Of Speed excel. From Mike and Alastair's interaction with the crowd, to Rhys' moody bass action to Dan's energetic drum work, an audience cannot help but get involved. It's fun, it's edgy, it sounds great and its Rock and Roll.

The four guys are all outgoing, fun and chatty people. Having already featured on Balcony TV, they are no stranger to TV and radio appearances and would be delighted to undertake any interviews if required.
