    À LA UNE
It was late 1996 in a small concrete garage on the northeast side of town when five local musicians from Gloucester Massachusetts got together and formed what would be the first inception of the rock band Imbalance. At that point in time the sole purpose of the band was to perform cover songs in clubs around the Cape Ann area and for 5 years this is what they did and to great reception. There was a certain energy and aura about the band that reaped attention and stirred emotions in the folks who came to the live shows. Throughout this time, however, some members yearned for more fulfillment in their music careers as well as their lives and as a result the band underwent two more lineup changes.
It was now a new millennium and a new beginning for the band. This third incarnation of the group was now in the process of writing and recording a full length CD. In December of 2002, after taking more than a year off from live performances, Imbalance released their 12 song debut aptly entitled “Category: Rock”. The entire project was produced and engineered by the band itself in it’s own digital recording studio. Capturing many of the band’s musical influences as well as the band’s live energy, Category: Rock is an inspired set of original songs with it’s roots firmly planted in 70’s style arena rock but with an attitude that is purely 21st Century.
Imbalance is now in their eighth year of performing live and for the current members the future has never looked so bright. With Arty Gobeil on vocals, Rick Williamson and John Silviera on guitars, Lou Orlando on bass and Bryan Sheehan taking over on drums, Imbalance is sounding better than ever and their live performances have a magnified energy that captures audiences of all ages.
