    À LA UNE
“Catchy songs played with a vengeance”, is how Wreckyard described their new material during a recent interview with 3voor12, the biggest Dutch e-zine around. With this in mind their influences can be traced back to bands which managed to popularize melodic punk rock from the mid-nineties on. We’re talking about the likes of The Offspring, Green Day, MxPx, The Alkaline Trio and Blink182.

Wreckyard made themselves feel at home within this genre by releasing their, well received, “Black and Blueprint” EP in late 2005. Ever since they have been busy rocking clubs, squats, bars and festivals in and around The Netherlands. This has earned them the reputation of a fierce live band. When not on a stage, wreckyard is an active band with a DIY attitude towards their music. This has managed them to get their hometown club packed twice in a row and most recently got themselves a slot during the prestigious Eurosonic/Noorderslag festival.

After three years the band lived trough the necessary clichés, joys, and grievances in order for themselves to justify the release of a debut album. As a result one could say that their debut, titled “DAWN”, has become a surprisingly mature album that's built on a foundation of rocking guitars, driving bass and heavy hitting drums. The 12 songs deal with hope, despair, trust, betrayal and life in a band. The band itself is fronted by two singers who take turns in doing lead vocals. While one is standing in the spotlight the other sings close harmony parts.

The bands shows themselves to be able musicians, taking the listener from the radio ready pop-punk of “Left Of The P.A” trough the, contemporary hardcore influenced, breakdowns in “Dear Future Self” and “Catch Phrase”. Most of the tracks on the album are pretty straight up, like “Coastline”, “Sleep Tight” and “Come next summer”. The band shows their adventurous side in the grand finale called “Rise Anew” and their softer side in the acoustic song titled “Price Of Admission”.

In the spring and summer of 2008 they band is busting their backs to get the word out on their, brand new, debut album. Mainly, by invigorating crowds and captivating audiences at clubs and festivals. Playing feverishly tight live sets bursting with youthful energy. Presenting a thoroughly modern brand of melodic punk-rock. They are also planning to have a lot of fun in the process! Let's go!
