There is no one beginning to the story of how ClockWork came to be. Each band member’s story begins a little differently, so let’s start with Jan and Sébastien. They are cousins. The two of them often found themselves jamming together but it was not until the summer of 2002, when Jan’s band dissolved, that Jan began playing with Sébastien in earnest. For some time before that, Sébastien had been jamming with Alec on guitar, and so with the addition of Jan’s melodies, and vocal talent, they realized that all they needed was a bass player.
And so it all began over a nice steak dinner...
Well, none of the band was enjoying a steak dinner at the time, but it just so happened that the Lead Guitar, Alec, and the bassist Rick, were serving at a Steak House called The Keg, when they met and began talking about music. It soon became apparent that the two shared a passion for jamming, and had a mutual interest in similar sounds.
From that point on, ClockWork was formed. Picking out a band name on the same night as their first show, they started out with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath covers, and evolved into developing a set list with a majority of originals created using many different styles. With the release of their garage style, first demo album, and a tour in the planning, ClockWork intends to bring the talents of the larger Ottawa music scene to the mainstream.
