Ivory Knight was formed by vocalist John Devadasan Perinbam and drummer Paul Malek. Paul is best known as the drummer on the legendary Annihilator demos. Ivory Knight released a demo, 'Voices in Your Nightmare', which was received very well by music press both locally and internationally. However, musical differences took their toll, and the band broke up shortly thereafter. John went on to play in various original and cover bands in the Ottawa area.

In late 1999, fed up with the sights and sounds of too many boring acts with poor musicianship and non-existent vocals and absolutely nothing happening on stage, John decided it was time to get back into the metal scene with a brand new version of Ivory Knight. With drummer George Nesrallah, guitarist Rob Gravelle, and bassist Steve Mercer, the Knight was once again ready to ride strong and free!

In 2001, the band self-produced an independently-released full-length CD called Up From The Ashes. The songs on this CD were primarily written by John himself before the line-up was complete. The CD again met with excellent reviews from metal fans and critics all over the world, and is still enjoying brisk sales. However, each member of Ivory Knight is an accomplished musician, composer, and arranger, and the band decided collectively to use these talents to better use on the new material. The band then set out to create material for a new album, and is currently in the process of recording a follow-up to Up From The Ashes.
