‘Less is more’. That’s the starting point from where Dog Called Phenix set off in May 2006. Although…..armed with two guitar amps, two bass amps, two mics, a drumkit and a sampler, you could question the word ‘less’. Well, interpret it this way: They are a trisome and use their gear well-considered, at least most of the time.

Dog Called Phenix is not just a band to Martin, Guido and Robin. It has got an important function. It’s where they accomodate and deal with their fears, anger and frustrations. Some kind of therapy, to keep them in good spirit during their common life as decent citizens. Prevent them from doing what they do on stage or even worse.

The result: Tight, up-tempo and cutting music, provided with matching lyrics from ultimate (under-)dogs.

Looking at their short excistence, they might still seem a little wet behind the ears. The opposite is true. As three of the five former State of Eye members, they’ve set foot on many stages, including Paradiso, De Melkweg, P60, Atlantis, LVC and Merleyn, just to mention a few. They’ve also had the privilege to tour through France and Denmark, so you can’t say the boys are ‘green’.

But a new band means a clean sheet and that sheet needs to be filled again, cause…a trouble shared is a trouble halved. After a relative short periode of preparation they are dying to perform again. And in this case….let’s say ‘more is more’!
