Shrouded in the mysteries of space and time Serialshark emerged out of nowhere in the summer of 2003. Rumours on the street say that before that time a terrible threesome, known as Leaf, had set out on an expedition with one goal: to destroy eardrums around the world… Tommy, Bram and Tom had barely survived their turbulent pasts.
It is said that Tommy, originally Tom, was born onto a skateboard and started doing ollies and airs by the time he was three, experimenting with various models of Gibson guitars…, Bram was supposedly put together out of parts and pieces of late drummers (do you know where Keith Moon’s or John Bonham’s bodies really are?...do you?...) and the icy look in Tom’s eyes is the result of cryogenic treatment on his body, necessary to maintain the cool bass licks he is famed for, or so the story goes…
Because there is no such thing as playing too loud, the three called in the help of another disciple of rock, Filip. Local myths – from the Western Woodlands - tell about a creature that arose from the muddy pastures of Rock Torhout festival and joining rockbands all around. There are tales of heavy drinking in dark bars, filled with cigarette smoke, and constant waves of rock ‘n’ roll…
Things started taking shape for Serialshark, as they became known, and gig after gig followed. The four worked on new material in the gloomy dark of a sealed mansion and only came out to burn the stage with their punkrock‘n’roll. They are said to be pushed by an overwhelming desire to perform on stage and make crowds go wild time and time again. Witnesses still talk about the shows in silent awe… counting bruises on the rhythm of the constant humming in their ears.
During their existence, Serialshark willingly shared the stage with other bands, like Semper Fi, The O’Haras, Tech9, The Jackals, All I Know, Severance, Death Before Disco, Redlab, Triggerfinger… and although they are clearly a live band, there are plans for a demo recording in the near future. Stay tuned for that!
Fall of 2005 marked an important step in the evolution of the band. Together with soulmates Semper Fi they organized The Cunning Plan Tour, a series of steaming gigs in youthclubs, pubs and venues in the area. It seemed to feed the little buggers, because they came out stronger than ever, with more inspiration and a violent desire to excel themselves musically. After another year of hard work, blood, sweat and tears they concluded that performing is what they live for, so this Fall (Sept-Nov 2006) The Cunning Plan Tour II is hitting the road again; harder, louder and bigger than ever before. Watch out for Serialshark and Semper Fi! They’re coming your way, there’s no escape…
