So when they take the stage the ghosts of Frederic Chopin, Jimi Hendrix, and John Lennon all crawl out of the woodwork and join the witches' rave. There are folk tales of selling one's soul for fame and glory, painful narratives of long distance love affairs, and of course the occasional drunken love song to a transvestite . It's precisely this mixture of shadow and light that makes listeners feel (even amid the most youthful anthem) that there's something surreal and entrancing about The Fens and their music.
