The band was formed by Anthony Spina and Dave Castro during their junior year of high school 2001 at Saint John's Prep. They joined forces with then sophomore John Drobenko and spent many hours after school working on their high energy teenage pop-punk sound.
After countless hours spent practicing in the school and/or John's basement DMT started its barrage of punk rock shows in the summer of 2002 by playing various Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan venues. There was even a road trip to The University of Bridgeport. The band recorded three pop punk albums between 2001-2005 titled "I Am The Preacher!", "From The Gutter to Your Stereo" and "Trust In Us". The albums were mostly high speed chainsaw punk with a small dose of ska, metal, and hardcore thrown in for good measure.
The band took a hiatus between 2005-2007 and returned much more mature, professional, and business oriented. Following said hiatus, the boys shed their teenage crust punk rock days in favor of a more contemporary "Pro Rock" sound. New instruments were introduced, tempos were slowed down, and lyrics became much more meaningful. In short, the boys grew up and their music grew up alongside them.
As of the last year, DMT feel they are ready to present their newfound sound to the masses, Emergenza audiences, and ultimately the whole world.
