NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
In the beginning of the year 2007, the two brothers Benjamin and Maximilian Eglseder decided to start a rock band with their long-term friend Martin Manns. The only problem was that they still needed two members to complete the band. So they asked the lead singer and bass player of the metal band Void to join their project. Stefan Killer and Benedikt Arvay were tired of being trapped in the restricted musical possibilities of one genre and agreed on the spot. First they considered this project as a nice change but in fact they were about to start from scratch. During the first rehearsals they just played cover versions of songs which each of the five musicians could identify with. Rock classics, like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, “Enter Sandman” by Metallica or Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name” - just to mention a few. While the initial euphoria of Void was dropping towards zero, the priorities were rearranged. Stefan and Benedikt eventually left Void and opened a new chapter ... Stereotype was born.
After a few jam sessions the five musicians realized that the potential of this band was beyond of what they had expected in the beginning. They started to write straight rock songs sounding like those back in the 60’s and 70’s with a slight touch of Stoner-Rock. At that moment bands like Led Zeppelin, Queens Of The Stone Age or Eagles Of Death Metal became guiding icons for Stereotype and had logically a deep impact on them and their songwriting. With the growing repertoire they were able to play live sets of about two hours. In 2008 the shows still were a mixture of rock classics and their own songs which appealed to a growing fan community. They majorly played shows in the south of Munich, but also two gigs in Neukirchen, Austria. The biggest show they’ve played by now was their first festival appearance at the same time. It was the loan for winning two rounds at the “Der Süden Bebt”-Contest. The festival itself took place in the city of Bad Tölz and was attended by about 1000 Rock fans.
In the year 2009 they signed their first record contract at a small Indie Label. However the collaboration has ended by mutual consent after just one year. Stereotype reduced their level of public appearances and focused on writing songs in order to have a set which only features songs of their own. These songs range from simple Stoner-Sound, over virtuoso Guitar-Solos to melancholic ballads – Rock ’n’ Roll without any gimmick!
